ARTIST BIO
Raised in the industrial city of Hamilton, Ontario, Robert Baird is a self-taught, self-motivated artist who mixes traditional drawing/painting techniques with digital design. After years of designing and painting Robert decided to go to Sheridan Institute of Technology to further build his techniques in painting, and open him to new ways of expressing himself as an artist, his ideas and his influences, through sculpture.
Roberts professional career started in the early 2000’s designing band posters, album covers, restaurant menus, and bar signs. By the time he reached the age of 22, Robert was offered the chance of a lifetime. Major Alcohol companies, Labatt’s, and Steam Whistle gave him the chance to paint murals for them. This gave way for the opportunity to paint for a few other companies including Jagermiester and Coca-Cola. Robert continues doing mural work, and uses it as the driving force for his passion for painting. Prior to this point Robert had never painted coloured bodies of work, let alone mural sized ones. He had primarily painted strong graphic black and white portraits.
Continuing his passion for painting, graphic design and digital art Robert has partnered himself with a small expanding promotions business, where he does design jobs for small businesses, charities, and bands that continue to seek him out based on his established poster art. Robert is currently developing a body of work to further expose himself as an established artist, using painting, and sculpture as the major focus for conveying his message and ideas for gallery, and publicized work.
